Against the backdrop of a volatile international situation, the trade friction between China and the US continues to intensify, the global supply chain reconstruction is becoming more and more intense, and China's manufacturing enterprises are facing profound challenges.

With tariff barriers pushing up costs and limited export access, manufacturing companies are urgently looking for ways to operate with greater resilience and efficiency. In such an environment, World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and Industry 4.0 have become important tools for many enterprises to break through.

On 20 May 2025, EFESO, in collaboration with the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) Science and Technology Business School, and with the support of BAIN & COMPANY, the Japan Institute of Plant Management (JIPM), and the Digital Intelligence Branch of the Alumni Association SOM, USTC, successfully organised the "From Operational Excellence to Smart Manufacturing - World Class Manufacturing (WCM) & Industry 4.0 Innovation Conference and Award Ceremony" in Hefei, Anhui Province.

From exploring the integration of AI in smart factories to discussing sustainable operational excellence, the conference provided a comprehensive overview of the industry's trajectory.

The event chronicle offers an in-depth look at the keynote speeches, panel discussions, and groundbreaking projects presented during the conference. It's an essential read for professionals seeking to navigate the evolving landscape of global manufacturing.
