The Challenge

The client faced the challenge of developing a new electronics factory that could support future growth while ensuring efficient production and material flow from the outset.

The initial situation revealed fragmented production processes and an unstructured layout concept, resulting in inefficient material flows and increased operational complexity. Production activities were distributed across multiple areas and levels, making coordination between processes more difficult.

Key challenges included:

  • Inefficient layout and material flow: Existing production processes were not aligned within a structured layout, leading to long transport distances and unnecessary handling.
  • Integration of multiple functions: The new factory needed to combine production, assembly, logistics, and administrative areas into one coherent and efficient layout.
  • Multi-level production complexity: Production planned across two floors required careful factory planning to ensure smooth vertical and horizontal material flows.
  • Future scalability requirements: The factory layout needed to accommodate future expansion, both in terms of production capacity and infrastructure.
  • Alignment of building and production requirements: The factory planning had to ensure that building design, technical infrastructure, and production processes were fully aligned.

To address these challenges, a comprehensive factory planning approach was required to structure the layout, optimize flows, and define a scalable and implementation-ready factory concept.

Real Results Achieved Together

EFESO developed a structured factory planning concept integrating production, logistics, and administrative functions into a coherent layout. The optimized factory design enables efficient material flow, reduced internal distances, and clear functional zoning. The concept also incorporates future expansion potential and aligns building requirements with production needs, ensuring a scalable and implementation-ready facility.

Our Approach

EFESO applied a structured factory planning methodology covering all phases from concept development to realization preparation.

The project started with the analysis of production processes, material flows, and operational requirements. Based on these inputs, EFESO defined key factory planning principles and developed an optimized layout concept integrating all functional areas.

The layout design focused on minimizing transport distances, structuring production stages, and ensuring efficient interaction between production, logistics, and support functions. Special attention was given to the integration of multi-level production and future expansion areas.

In parallel, building and infrastructure requirements were defined to support the operational concept, ensuring alignment between production needs and technical design.

EFESO also supported realization preparation by defining the masterplan, ensuring CAPEX transparency, and structuring the implementation roadmap to enable a smooth transition from planning to execution.
